MATTHEW J. CRAMER, P.E. - President

A native of the Four Corners, Matt Cramer, P.E. earned his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University. Mr. Cramer has over 12 years of experience as an engineer, Senior Engineer, and project manager specializing in geotechnical and structural engineering. His experience includes both large and small projects predominantly in the mining and energy, commercial and industrial market sectors. Mr. Cramer is a Registered Professional Engineer in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Texas. He has served as president of the San Juan Chapter of the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers and is currently an associate member of the NMSU CAGE Academy. When not at work, Mr. Cramer coaches local youth soccer and baseball, and enjoys camping, hunting, and fishing with his family.

THOMAS F. MADRID - Operations Manager

Mr. Madrid has over 12 years of operational and management experience in the construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering industry and is the former President of GEOMAT. Currently, as the operations manager, Mr. Madrid is responsible for the day-to-day operations of GEOMAT. His responsibilities include ensuring that each project is adequately staffed and the necessary resources are available so that each project is delivered to the client as promised. Mr. Madrid has a B.A. in Accounting, is a member of the Geoprofessional Business Association and is an active Rotarian. When not at work, he enjoys camping with his wife and sons, hiking, and golfing.

GEORGE A. MADRID, P.E. - Principal Engineer

George Madrid is the founder of GEOMAT and now its principal engineer. George is a highly experienced engineer and manager with a solid track record in delivering practical engineering solutions. He has worked in the engineering, construction, mining and power generation industries in Farmington and the surrounding Four Corners area since 1980. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in several states and is a member of the American Concrete Institute, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Geoprofessional Business Association, New Mexico State University Academy of Civil Engineers and Chi Epsilon.

NATHAN J. COMPTON, P.E. - Construction Services Manager

Mr. Compton has 7 years of experience in construction materials engineering, testing and management. A native of the Four Corners, Mr. Compton earned his B.S. in Materials Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology. His responsibilities at GEOMAT include the management of the materials testing laboratory as well as the field testing and special inspections. In addition, he is responsible for the scheduling and management of the engineering technicians and works closely with our clients to ensure that project testing and inspection requirements are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

ROBERT FLEGAL, P.E. - Senior Engineer

Bob Flegal is an experienced professional with over twenty-seven years holding a broad range of positions from engineering, environmental, financial and managerial to commercial roles. He now brings his experience with earthworks and energy to our geotechnical group at GEOMAT. Mr. Flegal is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with both a B.S. and M.S. in Mining Engineering and an M.B.A from the University of Phoenix. Specializing in project management, problem analysis, systems, and data representation/reporting, he is proficient with all of the tools of the trade. He is also an avid inventor/problem solver, enjoying machining, welding, ranching, automotive restoration and hobby electronics.


Phil Rosenberger earned his B.A. in Engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. Mr. Rosenberger is an experienced designer, estimator, project controls engineer, project manager and inspector with a wide experience base in civil/mining and structural engineering projects. His vast array of skills was developed through experience in many construction projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the Four Corners region.


Don Baldwin earned his B.S. in Geology from Eastern Washington University. He has over 15 years of experience in the geotechnical engineering industry including coordination of field subsurface exploration, laboratory testing and preparation of engineering reports. Mr. Baldwin has been involved in the geotechnical engineering and materials testing phases for hundreds of projects in the Pacific Northwest as well as in the Four Corners.
